Fertility Success Rates: Why Independence and Inclusion Matter
When choosing a fertility clinic, IVF success rates are often the first thing patients look at — and rightly so. At Concept Fertility, our confirmed success rates consistently sit above the UK national average.
But the real question isn’t just what our numbers are — it’s why they are strong.
Our results are achieved through clinical excellence, experienced embryology, and patient-centred care — not by restricting access to treatment or selecting only the easiest cases.
An Independent, Owner-Led Fertility Clinic
Concept Fertility is proudly owner-managed and clinician-led.
While many UK fertility clinics are owned by private equity or financial investment groups, our leadership team is directly involved in day-to-day patient care and decision-making.
At Concept Fertility:
- The people making decisions are the same people you meet in clinic.
- Clinical judgement comes before shareholder targets.
- Treatment recommendations are based on what is right for you — not what benefits investors.
This independence directly impacts how we approach success rates and patient eligibility.
How Concept Fertility Compares to Other UK Clinics
Many clinics boost their statistics through patient selection (choosing only those most likely to succeed) or treatment selection (choosing not to offer certain treatments). We believe every patient deserves a chance, regardless of how their data affects our averages.
- Inclusive Patient Care (e.g. No BMI Barriers)
Unlike many UK clinics that enforce strict BMI limits, we maintain an inclusive approach. We proudly treat women with a BMI of up to 40, ensuring that weight isn’t an automatic barrier to starting your family. Likewise with other restrictions – we offer patients the least restrictive range of eligibility criteria we can.
- No Data Filtering
We do not exclude patients with a poorer prognosis to “protect” our statistics. Our data is fully inclusive, reflecting the real-world journeys of every individual who walks through our doors.
- Our Pregnancy Figures are not split into PGT-A and non-PGT-A streams
The latest HFEA data (2023) reflects a period before genetic testing (PGT-A) was a standard part of our offering.
- The Impact: Given that PGT-A-appropriate patients have a lower probability of success, the statistical consequence of combining both streams of data is to present a lower headline birth rate per embryo transferred. Older patients are more likely to have PGT-A so this statistical anomaly is more pronounced with older patients.
- (If the HFEA had chosen to headline with births per cycle started rather than births per embryo transferred, the consequence would have been the opposite – the headline birth rate would have been slightly increased.)
Our Success Rates vs. National Averages
Despite our inclusive criteria and lack of “statistical filtering,” Concept Fertility continues to lead the way in successful outcomes.
Under 38
Concept Fertility: 44%
National Average: 34%
38 and Over
Concept Fertility: 13%*
National Average: 16%
Note on the 38+ Statistic: As noted above, the vast majority of UK patients using PGT-A are aged 38 and over, hence the exaggerated reduction in the statistical presentation of this age group. Our 13% reflects an unfiltered, honest success rate for ALL people in this age group, demonstrating the raw strength of our clinical approach.
Your Treatment, Your Choice: The PGT-A Decision
The decision to utilize Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidies (PGT-A) is a complex medical choice, and the recommended course of action has varied over the years as techniques have improved. For more information, read our PGT-A page.
