What do the Latest Lockdown Rules Mean for IVF Clinics?

covid fertility clinic

England has returned to a national lockdown. We understand that our patients and future patients will have many questions regarding how this will affect fertility treatments. Therefore we would like to try and address these questions and ease your concerns with the following information…

Are IVF clinics still open?

Currently, HFEA licensed clinics like ours can continue to offer treatment. HFEA licensed clinics have each strictly followed a Treatment Commencement Strategy in order to maintain safe ways of working for both patients and staff.

We will continue to monitor and adhere to HFEA and government advice and all patients will be notified of any developments.

How are clinics keeping patients safe?

Our priority is the safety of patients and our team. We have implemented strict infection-control measures throughout our clinic, including hand sanitiser stations, social distancing guidelines and personal protective equipment. Furthermore, all patients must complete our coronavirus screening process prior to treatment.

We also offer video and telephone consultations to reduce the risk of human-to-human transmission for our patients and our team.

We hope that these measures will ensure the safety of our patients and staff, and help to ease any concerns you may have about your treatment with us.

What does the latest national lockdown mean for clinics?

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) has confirmed that fertility clinics can continue to offer treatment to patients during the latest lockdown. It is the clinic’s responsibility to evaluate the risks and decide whether safe treatment can continue.

As mentioned above, all HFEA approved clinics have a Treatment Commencement Strategy in place to ensure they comply with professional guidelines and maintain optimal safety.

As the coronavirus restrictions continue to change, we will continue to update our safety measures in order to always provide exceptional care for our patients.
